Installation Procedure

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

  1. Install tie rod (1) on link (5).

Note: Refer to the removal procedure for the recorded number of threads on tie rod (1).

  2. Tighten the bolt and nut (2). Tighten nut (2) to a torque of 75 ± 7 N·m (55 ± 5 lb ft).

  3. Install nut (3). Tighten nut (3) to a torque of 220 ± 14 N·m (162 ± 10 lb ft). Align the slots for the installation of cotter pin (4).

  4. Adjust the axle toe-in. Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, RENR4183, "Axle Toe-In (Front) - Adjust" for the correct procedure.
