Installation Procedure

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the installation procedure, the exterior of the components should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

1. Position clamp (9) at Distance (X).

   1. For the Series 770, Distance (X) measures 1017 mm (40.0 inch).

   2. For the Series 772, Distance (X) measures 1099 mm (43.0 inch).

2. Apply Tooling (D) to bolts (8). Install bolts (8) and tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 30 ± 5 N·m (22 ± 4 lb ft).

3. Stake the top edge of the counterbore in order to retain bolts (8).

4. Attach a suitable lifting device to axle shaft (4) and remove Tooling (C). The weight of axle shaft (4) is approximately 68 kg (150 lb).

5. Position axle shaft (4) and remove the suitable lifting device.

6. Install bearing (7).

7. Install sun gear (5). Install retaining ring (6). Use Tooling (B) in order to install axle shaft (4).

8. Remove Tooling (B) from axle shaft (4). Install O-ring seal (3).

9. Position plate (2) and install nuts (1).

10. Fill oil for the final drive. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Differential and Final Drive - Change".
