When you are using hydraulic cylinders and puller studs, always ensure that the rated capacity of the puller stud meets or exceeds the rated capacity of the hydraulic cylinder. If the puller stud does not meet or exceed the rated capacity of the hydraulic cylinder, a sudden failure of the puller stud could occur. The sudden failure of the puller stud could result in personal injury or death.


Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the components should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism. Precision components can be damaged by contaminants or by dirt. Perform disassembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all times.

  1. Use Tooling (A) to support front axle (1).

  2. Use Tooling (A1) to support front axle (1). Refer to Tool Operating Manual, NEHS1303, "Lift Group (Stand - 25 Ton)" for more information on Tooling (A1).

  3. Attach a suitable lifting device onto both ends of wheel lean bar (2). The weight of wheel lean bar (2) is approximately 50 kg (110 lb).

  4. Remove bolt (3) and retainer (4). Repeat this step for the opposite end.

  5. Remove wheel lean bar (2).

  6. Remove lip seals (6). Repeat this step for the remaining lip seals.

  7. Use Tooling (B) to remove bearing (7). Repeat this step for the remaining bearing.

  1. Use Tooling (C) to install bearing (7). Repeat this step for the remaining bearing.

  2. Use Tooling (D) to install lip seals (6). Repeat this step for the remaining lip seals.

  3. Use a suitable lifting device to install wheel lean bar (2). The weight of wheel lean bar (2) is approximately 50 kg (110 lb).

  4. Install retainer (4) and bolt (3). Repeat this step for the opposite end.

    Note: The gap between the retainers and the wheel lean bar must be a minimum of 0.80 mm (0.032 inch) and a maximum of 2.10 mm (0.083 inch).
