1.1. Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Pump (Hydraulic Fan) - Remove".

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

  1. Remove allen head screws (1). Remove compensator valve (2) from housing (3).

  2. Remove plug (4) and plug (5) from compensator valve (2). Remove plug (6) and the O-ring seal from compensator valve (2).

  3. Remove O-ring seal (7) from plug (4). Remove seat (8) from plug (4). Remove spring (9) and spring (10). Remove spring retainer (11). Remove spool (12) from body (19).

  4. Remove O-ring seal (13) from plug (5). Remove seat (14) from plug (5). Remove spring (15) and spring (16). Remove spring retainer (17). Remove spool (18) from body (19).

  5. Remove allen head screws (20) and remove port block (21) from housing (3).

  6. Remove O-ring seal (22). Remove plate (23) from port block (21). Remove bearing cup (26A) from port block (21).

  7. Remove bearing cone (26) from shaft (24). Remove O-ring seals (25).

  8. Remove shim (27) for the bearing preload from shaft (24).

  9. Carefully retain rotating assembly (28) in housing (3) while you are repositioning housing (3) and rotating assembly (28) upside-down. Slowly lift housing (3) off rotating group (28).

    Note: Mark the location of pistons (30) for assembly purposes.

  10. Remove plate (29) and pistons (30) from barrel (31). Remove retaining ball (32).

  11. Use Tooling (A) (not shown) and a suitable press in order to compress spring (34) until retaining ring (33) can be removed from barrel (31) with Tooling (B). Slowly release the pressure on the suitable press because of the spring pressure. Remove barrel (31) from the suitable press. Remove spring (34), retaining disc (35), and pressure pins (36) from barrel (31).

  12. Remove plug (37) and the O-ring seal from housing (3).

  13. Remove piston (38) from housing (3).

    Note: Piston rod (40) is engaged in the socket by the edges of the socket. Extreme care must be used in order to disengage piston rod (40) from the socket. Remove piston rod (40) out of the smooth shaped socket.

  14. Angle swashplate (39) so piston rod (40) extends out of the bore. Remove piston rod (40) from the socket in swashplate (39).

  15. Remove swashplate (39) from housing (3). Check the condition of socket (41).

  16. Remove spring (42).

  17. Remove bearings (43).

  18. Lift shaft (24) out of housing (3). If necessary, press bearing cone (44) off shaft (24). Remove bearing cup (45) (not shown) from housing (3).

  19. Use Tooling (C) in order to remove retaining ring (46) from housing (3).

  20. Remove seal (47) from housing (3).
