Note: The procedure for the installation of the front tire and rim assemblies is the same as the procedure for the installation of the rear tire and rim assemblies.

------ WARNING! ------

Follow the recommended procedure for removal and installation of tires and or wheel assemblies.

Ensure that the machine and tire and or wheel assembly are properly supported at all times.

Improper procedures that are used to remove and install tires and or wheel assemblies can result in personal injury or death.

------ WARNING! ------

Improper blocking of the rear axle housing can cause personal injury.

The rear axle housing is made to oscillate. During removal and installation of the rear tires and rims, the rear axle housing must be prevented from oscillating.

Place wood blocks between the rear axle housing and the rear main frame to prevent oscillation of the rear axle housing.

    Typical example

  1. Install blocks (1) between the rear axle housing and the rear frame, on both sides of the machine, to prevent the rear axle from oscillating. The blocks should be a neat fit.

  2. Clean all parts and inspect all parts. Replace all worn or damaged parts with new replacement parts.

  4. Attach a suitable lifting device to Tooling (D). The weight of Tooling (D) is approximately 425 kg (935 lb). Use Tooling (D) to install tire and rim assembly (3) to the machine. The combined weight of tire and rim assembly (3) and of Tooling (D) is approximately 1025 kg (2260 lb).

  5. Use Tooling (C) (not shown) to install 20 nuts (2) (not shown) that hold the tire and rim assembly to the final drive and wheel.

  6. Tighten nuts (2) in a cross pattern to a torque of 475 ± 50 N·m (350 ± 37 lb ft).

  7. Repeat Step 2 through Step 6 to install the remaining tire and rim assemblies.

  8. Raise the front of the machine and remove Tooling (A) from under the machine. Lower the machine.

  9. Raise the rear of the machine and remove Tooling (B) from under the machine. Lower the machine.

  10. Remove blocks (1) from between the rear axle housing and the rear frame on both sides of the machine.

End By:

  1. Remove the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Remove and Install".
