770 and 772 Off-Highway Trucks Power Train Transmission Hydraulic Control - Install Caterpillar

Installation Procedure

1. Check all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

2. Lubricate all of the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

3. Install O-ring seals (30). Install sleeve (31) onto transmission (26) .

4. Position manifold (32) to sleeve (31). Install manifold (32) .

5. Install plate (28) and bolt (27) to the manifold. Tighten bolt (27) to a torque of 30 ± 4 N·m (22 ± 3 lb ft). Install the O-ring seals and sleeves (29) to transmission (26) .

6. Use two people to position selector and pressure control valve (24) to the plate. The weight of selector and pressure control valve (24) is approximately 25 kg (56 lb).

7. Install bolts (25) that secure selector and pressure control valve (24) to the plate. Tighten bolts (25) to a torque of 30 ± 4 N·m (22 ± 3 lb ft).

8. Install the retaining ring to coupling assembly (23). Install coupling assembly (23) so that Groove (X) is in alignment with the dowel in the spool assembly.

9. Install sleeves (22) and the O-ring seals, as shown.

   Note: The longest sleeve must be installed in Position (Y), as shown.

10. Install manifold assembly (14) and four bolts (19) to the transmission. Tighten four bolts (19) to a torque of 48 ± 4 N·m (35 ± 3 lb ft).

11. Install position sensor assembly (18) to manifold assembly (14). Install the isolation mounts, the spacers, two bolts (21) and the washers to position sensor assembly (18) .

12. Connect connector (20) to position sensor assembly (18) .

13. Install the gasket, cover (17) and ten bolts (16) to manifold assembly (14) .

14. Connect harness assembly (15) to manifold assembly (14). Tighten the nut clockwise with Tooling (A) (not shown) and insert the lockwire to the next hole in the clockwise direction.

15. Attach a suitable lifting device to transmission control valve (10). Secure the lifting device to a hoist.

16. Position transmission control valve (10) onto the transmission. The weight of transmission control valve (10) is approximately 63 kg (140 lb).

17. Install cover (13), bolts (12) and the washers to transmission control valve (10). Tighten bolts (12) to a torque of 48 ± 4 N·m (35 ± 3 lb ft).

18. Install the remaining bolts (11) and the hard washers to cover (13). Tighten bolts (11) to a torque of 30 ± 4 N·m (22 ± 3 lb ft).

19. Install the gasket, cover assembly (7), bolts (8), and the hard washers to the transmission.

20. Connect harness assemblies (9) .

21. Connect tube assembly (6) to adapter (5) .

22. Connect hose assemblies (3) and (4) to the transmission.

23. Position guard assembly (2), as shown. Install bolts (1) and the washers.

End By: Remove the pins and lower the body. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Pin (Body Retaining) - Remove and Install".
