1.1. Removal Procedure

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Raise the body and install the pins. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Pin (Body Retaining) - Remove and Install".


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "AVSpare Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on AVSpare products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Remove bolts (1) and the washers. Remove guard assembly (2) .

  1. Disconnect hose assemblies (3) and (4) from the transmission.

    Note: Install caps and plugs on all openings in order to prevent dirt or debris from entering the system. Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

  1. Disconnect tube assembly (6) from adapter (5) .

  1. Put identification on harness assemblies (9) for installation purposes. Disconnect harness assemblies (9). Remove bolts (8), cover assembly (7) and the gasket.

  1. Put identification on bolts (11) and (12) for assembly purposes. Remove bolts (11) and (12). Remove cover (13) .

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device to transmission hydraulic control valve (10) .

  1. Remove transmission control valve (10) from the transmission. The weight of transmission control valve (10) is approximately 63 kg (140 lb).

  1. Disconnect the lockwire and harness assembly (15) from manifold assembly (14) .

  1. Put identification on bolts (16) that secure cover (17) to manifold assembly (14) for installation purposes. Remove bolts (16), cover (17), and the gasket from manifold assembly (14) .

  1. Disconnect connector (20) from position sensor assembly (18) .

  1. Remove two bolts (21), the washers, the spacers and the isolation mounts from position sensor assembly (18). Remove position sensor assembly (18) from manifold assembly (14) .

  1. Put identification on bolts (19) that secure manifold assembly (14) to the transmission for installation purposes. Remove four bolts (19) and manifold assembly (14) from the transmission.

  1. Remove coupling assembly (23), the retaining ring, and the O-ring seal from manifold assembly (14) .

  1. Put identification on sleeves (22) for installation purposes. Remove sleeves (22) and the O-ring seals from manifold assembly (14) .

  1. Remove 13 bolts (25) that secure selector and pressure control valve (24) to the plate. Use two people to remove selector and pressure control valve (24) from the plate. The weight of selector and pressure control valve (24) is approximately 25 kg (56 lb).

  1. Remove sleeves (29) and the O-ring seals from transmission (26) .

  1. Remove bolt (27) and plate (28) from the manifold.

  1. Lift manifold (32). Pull manifold (32) from sleeve (31) .

  1. Remove sleeve (31) from transmission (26). Remove O-ring seals (30) .
