Alert Indicators For AP-655C

(1) Left Track Take Up Pressure. (2) Right Track Take Up Pressure. (3) System Voltage. (4) Unused. (5) Operator Error. (6) Hydraulic Oil Level Low. (7) Hydraulic Oil Filter Restricted. (8) Propulsion System Fault. (9) Material, Tamp & AUX System Fault. (10) Burner System Fault.

The main display module of the AVSpare Monitoring System is used to show information. A mode select switch is provided on the inside of the center console. Momentarily pushing the switch will allow the operator to scroll through the numeric readout modes that are listed below:

  • Engine speed

  • Hour meter

  • Tamper bar speed

Note: The unit indicators are automatically turned ON or OFF in order to correspond with the information that is shown on the numeric display. The values for the "odometer" may be displayed in either English units or metric units. Toggling between English and metric units can be performed with the mode select switch or the ET. When the display is in the metric mode the display will show the machine speed in meters per minute up to 199 meters per minute. When the machine speed exceeds 199 meters per minute the units will change to km/h. When the display is in the English Mode the readout shows the machine speed in ft/min up to 199 ft/min. When the machine speed exceeds 199 ft/min the units will change to mph.

Diagnostic codes

The operator mode switch may be used to view the active diagnostic codes and the logged diagnostic codes. The serv code indicator will be illuminated while active fault codes are displayed. The serv code indicator will be OFF while logged diagnostic codes are displayed. Diagnostic codes can also be displayed through use of the AVSpare Electronic Technician (ET).

The AVSpare Electronic Technician (ET)

Illustration 3g00777826

The AVSpare Electronic Technician (ET) is a software program that is used to access data. The service technician will use the ET in order to perform the maintenance on the machine. Some of the options that are available with the AVSpare Electronic Technician are listed below:

  • Diagnosis of problems

  • Viewing diagnostic codes

  • Viewing active event codes and logged event codes

  • View the status of parameters.

  • Clear active diagnostic codes and clear logged diagnostic codes

  • Perform calibration of machine systems.

  • Program the ECM (Flash). This is done with the "WINflash" program. See Troubleshooting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Flash Program".

  • Print reports.

See Troubleshooting, "Using the AVSpare Electronic Technician to Determine Diagnostic Codes". Diagnostic information is accessed with the following drop down menus:

  • Active diagnostic codes

  • Logged diagnostic codes

Logged Event Codes

Typical ET screen

Logged events are provided with an indicator which is used to keep track of recurring or intermittent events. The data for the logged event shall include the following items: an event identifier (EID), a text description of the event, the number of occurrences of the event, a time stamp that shows the time that the event first occurred and a time stamp that shows the time that the event has most recently occurred.

Table 1
Event List
Event     Name     Description
370     Material height sensor change during operation     Material height sensor type changes while machine is moving. Machine control assumes previous material height sensor is installed until machine is brought to a stop.
371     Operator station change while machine in motion     The selected active operator station changes while machine is operating. Machine control assumes previous operator station is active until machine brought to a stop.
372     Machine in open loop     Machine is operated without calibrating the propel solenoids or a failure occurs during operation causing the system to exit closed loop control.
373     Machine not stopped in allotted time     Machine motion still detected after operator issues stop command. If machine motion is present after a timer ellapses, the event is activated and park brake is applied.
374     Feeder switches in manual position at startup     Feeder, auger, or conveyor switches are in the manual position on startup.
376     Gear change while not in neutral     Propel mode is switched from a low speed (Pave or Maneuver) to a high speed (Travel) setting, or vise versa, with the propel lever out of neutral.
380     Fuel shutdown     Machine controller detects a diagnostic code causing the ECM to shutdown the engine.
395     Transmission stall condition     Machine motion not detected after operator issues start command. If machine motion is not present after a timer ellapses, the event is activated.
523     Unable to determine rotation direction of left drive motor     Machine control is unable to detect the rotational direction of the left drive motor. This could be due to a speed sensor failure or improperly installed speed sensor.
524     Unable to determine rotation direction of right drive motor     Machine control is unable to detect the rotational direction of the right drive motor. This could be due to a speed sensor failure or improperly installed speed sensor.
1968     Bad sonic setup     Left or right sonic sensor signal was out of range indicating the sensor was set-up improperly.
2072     Left sonic sensor bad     Left sonic sensor signal was out of range indicating the sensor was set-up improperly.
2073     Right sonic sensor bad     Right sonic sensor signal was out of range indicating the sensor was set-up improperly.
2074     Engine shutdown due to diagnostic     Machine controller detects a diagnostic code causing the ECM to shutdown the engine.
