The Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects an abnormal fuel filter differential pressure.
Use this procedure if the following event code is active. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Event Codes" for information about event codes and the default trip points for this code. You must access the engine monitoring system on AVSpare Electronic Technician (ET) in order to view the current trip points for this code. For information on the engine monitoring system, refer to Troubleshooting, "Engine Monitoring System".

|E390(1) Fuel Filter Restriction
|The difference between the filtered fuel pressure and the unfiltered fuel pressure is greater than the trip point pressure.
|The code is logged.
- Fuel filter elements
Fuel Filter Elements
- Replace the fuel filter elements.
- Prime the fuel system. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for information.
- Restart the engine and check for an active event code.
- If the above event code remains active, check for logged diagnostic codes that are related to the fuel pressure sensor. If logged codes are present, check for intermittent problems in the harness or in the wiring to the fuel pressure sensor. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Electrical Connectors - Inspect" for information that is related to intermittent electrical problems.
