Electronic Technician Screens for the Fan Drive System
Configuration screen for the Brake ECM
The configuration screen should be setup in order to include some of the parameters that are listed. The Fan Calibrate Error is a value from 0 to 2. This value will indicate the error condition. If the braking system on the machine is electronically controlled, then the "Value" for the "Brake Cooling Pump Installation Status" parameter must be set to "Installed".
The Fan Calibrate Start will indicate if all of the conditions are met in order to run a test for calibration. A fan size must be entered into the software that is used for the calibration of the Fan w/Planetary Diam for the 797B. This value will indicate the size of the fan that is being used on this truck.
This is a split screen. The top of the screen shows the actual values for the indicated parameters. The bottom part of the screen are items that can be selected. A value can be added into the item that is selected. This item will affect the truck performance.
The screen for the Override parameters of the Brake ECM
Another screen within the ET is the screen for the override parameters of the Brake ECM. If the fan drive system on the machine is electronically controlled, then the "Value" for the "Desired Engine Cooling Fan Speed Override" parameter can be changed. The fan speed can be overridden to any rpm. In this test, the rpm will be increased from 100 up to 525 in increments of 100.
The Brake/Cooling ECM has a number of inputs and outputs. Illustration 4 shows the number of inputs and outputs. Illustration 4 shows the inputs and outputs from the Fan Drive Hydraulic System that are controlled by the Brake/Cooling ECM. The input component for the fan drive pump is the speed sensor. The output component is the solenoid for the fan drive. Also, two other inputs that affect the fan drive are the sensors for the brake temperature and the filter bypass switch.
Status screen for the Brake ECM
- On the Electronic Technician (ET) screen toolbar, click on "File".
- View the options and click on "Select ECM". Choose the option "Brake ECM".
- In the "Status Group", create a new group with the name of "797B Fan Test".
- Select the items that are shown on the ET screen below from the Transmission ECM, the Brake ECM, and the Engine Front Module ECM.
