Never attempt adjustments while the machine is moving or the engine is running unless otherwise specified.

The machine must be parked on a level surface and the engine stopped.

Attach a "Do Not Operate" or similar warning tag to the start switch and controls before servicing, repairing, or making adjustments to the machine.

To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions before operating the machine.

Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.

Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.

Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

  1. Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.

  2. Move propulsion lever (1) to the NEUTRAL position.

  3. Move parking brake switch (2) to the ON position.

  4. Move throttle switch (3) to the LOW IDLE position.

  5. Move engine start switch (4) to the OFF position.

  6. Unhook latch (5) and open the engine compartment.

  7. Remove locking pin (6). Raise support bar (7), and lock the bar in position with the locking pin.

  8. Install a small piece of reflective tape from Tool (A) on the fan blade.

    Note: Ensure that only one piece of tape is installed on the fan blade.

  9. Move engine start switch (4) to the START position. Release the switch when the engine starts.

  10. Operate the engine at low idle for a few minutes. Move throttle control switch (3) to the HIGH IDLE position.

  11. Monitor the hydraulic oil temperature with Tool (B). Operate the machine until the oil temperature reaches 43 ± 5.6 °C (110 ± 10 °F).

  12. Measure the fan speed with Tool (A). Fan speed should be 1700 ± 25 rpm when the machine is operating at elevations up to approximately 150 m (500 ft).

    Note: Fan speed is dependent upon elevation. Add 100 rpm to the fan speed specification or each 750 m (2500 ft) increase in elevation.

  13. Move throttle switch (3) to the LOW IDLE position.

  14. Move engine start switch (4) to the OFF position.

  15. If the fan speed is outside the specified range, Go to Step 16. If the fan speed is inside the specified range, go to Step 18.

  16. Loosen locknut (8). In order to increase fan speed, rotate adjustment screw (9) clockwise. In order to decrease fan speed, rotate adjustment screw (9) counterclockwise.

  17. Hold adjustment screw (9), and tighten locknut (8). go to Step 9.

  18. Close the engine compartment.
