Eccentric Weight

The eccentric weight provides added compaction to the weight of the machine. The drive shaft connects the vibratory motor to the eccentric weight. When the vibratory motor turns, the eccentric weight inside the eccentric weight housing turns. As the eccentric weight turns, the force of the unbalanced weight causes the drum to vibrate.

Dual Amplitude Vibratory System

The dual amplitude system is similar to vibratory systems on soil compactors. The dual amplitude system uses eccentric weights that are filled with steel shot, in order to achieve compaction.

(5) Steel shot

The eccentric weights are partially filled with steel shot (5). When the vibratory switch is placed in the HIGH AMPLITUDE mode, the eccentric weights rotate in one direction. The steel shot is captured in one area of the weight compartment, as shown above.

The weight of the steel shot in this position increase the fixed eccentricity of the weights. The drum assembly will then vibrate in the HIGH AMPLITUDE mode.

When the vibratory switch is placed in the LOW AMPLITUDE mode, the eccentric weights rotate in the opposite direction. This causes the steel shot (5) to be captured in the opposite area of the weight compartment, as shown above.

The weight of the steel shot in this position offsets the fixed eccentricity of the weights. This causes the drum assembly to vibrate in the LOW AMPLITUDE mode.

Five Amplitude Vibratory System

Eccentric weight (3) has adjustable settings. The amplitude setting wheel has five settings.

  • HIGH AMPLITUDE

  • MEDIUM HIGH AMPLITUDE

  • MEDIUM AMPLITUDE

  • MEDIUM LOW AMPLITUDE

  • LOW AMPLITUDE

When the operator rotates the wheel in the HIGH AMPLITUDE mode, eccentric shaft (4) rotates eccentric weight (3) to the center bottom of eccentric weight housing (2). The eccentric weight increases the fixed eccentricity of eccentric weight housing (2). The rotation of the eccentric weights creates the desired vibratory action of the drum assembly.

When the operator rotates wheel (1) in the MEDIUM HIGH AMPLITUDE mode, eccentric shaft (4) rotates eccentric weight (3) to the right bottom corner of eccentric weight housing (2). In this position, eccentric weight (3) offsets the fixed eccentricity of the eccentric weight housing (2). The rotation of the eccentric weights creates the desired vibratory action of the drum assembly.

When the operator rotates wheel (1) in the MEDIUM LOW AMPLITUDE mode, eccentric shaft (4) rotates eccentric weight (3) to the right upper corner of eccentric weight housing (2). In this position, eccentric weight (3) offsets the fixed eccentricity of the eccentric weight housing (2). The rotation of the eccentric weights creates the desired vibratory action of the drum assembly.

When the operator rotates the wheel in the LOW AMPLITUDE mode, eccentric shaft (4) rotates eccentric weight (3) to the top center of eccentric weight housing (2). In this position, eccentric weight (3) offsets the fixed eccentricity of the eccentric weight housing (2). The rotation of the eccentric weights creates the desired vibratory action of the drum assembly.

Note: When you change the amplitude setting on the machine, adjust both the front wheel and the rear wheel to the same amplitude setting.

Versa Vibe Vibratory System

The Versa Vibe vibratory system uses eccentric weights that are filled with steel shot. The eccentric weights are similar to eccentric weights that are used in applications for soil compactors.

The Versa Vibe vibratory system uses a four amplitude system. The operator can choose between low frequency and high frequency on the steering console. Then, the operator chooses either low amplitude or high amplitude on the hand wheel. The operator has the choice of four vibratory settings.
