Right Side of Engine
(1) ATAAC air temperature sensor
(2) Engine coolant temperature sensor

ATAAC air temperature sensor (1) and engine coolant temperature sensor (2) are on the right side of the engine near the alternator. The door on the right side of the machine provides access to these components.

The machine ECM uses the input from ATAAC air temperature sensor (1) and engine coolant temperature sensor (2) control the fan speed.

Note: The ATAAC air temperature sensor and engine coolant temperature sensor (2) are on the engine wiring harness.

Left Side of Machine
(3) Hydraulic oil temperature sensor

Hydraulic oil temperature sensor (3) is on the left side of the machine. This sensor is installed in rear of the return manifold. The door on the left side of the machine provides access to this component.

The return manifold collects oil from the following locations:

  • Propel pump and vibratory pump case drains

  • Front vibratory motor case drain

  • Front-propel motor case drain

  • Rear vibratory motor case drain

  • Rear propel motor case drain

Hydraulic oil temperature sensor (3) measures the temperature of the oil in the return manifold. Since the return manifold collects oil from numerous sources, the oil temperature sensor provides an accurate representation of the system oil temperature for use in the fan control logic.
