Right Console (1) Water spray enable switch (2) Display |
The propel joystick and operator display (2) are on the right console. Water spray enable button (1) is integrated into the propel joystick.
Water spray enable button (1) is momentary. Each time the operator presses the water spray enable button, an input signal is sent to the machine ECM through the CAN. With each input signal, the machine ECM toggles the status of the water system between disabled and enabled. The system status defaults to disabled when the engine start switch is cycled through the OFF position. An indicator on the top banner of display (2) indicates when the system is enabled. The machine ECM illuminates this indicator.
If water spray enable button (1) is held for more than 2 seconds, water will spray continuously for as long as the switch is held. After the water spray enable button is released, normal timer operation takes over control of the water system.
The machine ECM uses input from the propel joystick to determine the forward, neutral, or reverse (FNR) position of the lever. This input is a control parameter for water pump operation.

Left Console (3) Water spray timer LEDs (4) Water spray control dial (5) Water mode LEDs |
The keypad on the left console contains water spray control dial (4). The water spray control dial provides input signals to the machine ECM through the CAN. The machine ECM uses these signals to determine the desired operating conditions for the water system.
Water spray control dial (4) operates an infinite-rotation encoder and a push-button switch. The push-button switch controls the water spray mode, and the encoder controls the water spray timer.
Each actuation of the push-button switch toggles the water spray mode between pump "1", pump "2", and automatic mode in a circular sequence. Water mode LEDs (5) indicate the active water mode. The left LED indicates pump "1" mode. The middle LED indicates pump "2" mode. All three LEDs are lit when the system is in automatic mode. The water spray mode is also shown on display (2) each time the water spray control dial is pushed.
Water spray control dial (4) allows the operator to match the spray operation to surface conditions and desired water use. The water pumps cycle on and off during normal operation to control the volume of water delivered to the drums.
The machine ECM uses input from the encoder to map the off and on times for the water spray system. Clockwise rotation of water spray control dial (4) increases the on time, and therefore, delivers more water to the drums. Counterclockwise rotation increases the off time, decreasing the water that is delivered to the drums.
The LEDs around the top of water spray control dial (4) indicate the approximate time on and time off. When none of the LEDs are illuminated, the water pumps do not operate. Each LED represents an approximate 10 percent increase in on time.
When the operator is rotating water spray dial (4), a pop-up window showing the currently chosen percentage appears on operator display (2).
