(2) Torque for two nuts ... 220 ± 14 N·m (160 ± 10 lb ft)

Note: As needed, tighten nuts (2) more in order to align the cotter slot.

(10) Torque for nut on each steering cylinder ... 550 ± 65 N·m (400 ± 50 lb ft)

(11) Torque for two nuts on the tie rod clamps ... 75 ± 7 N·m (55 ± 5 lb ft)

(12) Tie Rod

(13) As needed, use 2G-5669 Washers to achieve a maximum gap for Dimension (D) of 2.0 mm (.08 inch).

Thickness of 2G-5669 Washer ... 1.50 ± 0.23 mm (.060 ± .009 inch)

Checking for Rolling Torque

  1. Assemble three shims (7) and install three bolts (5) . Tighten the three bolts to a torque of 130 ± 7 N·m (100 ± 5 lb ft).

  1. In order to roll the wheel bearings inward, turn the wheel spindle two to three complete revolutions.

  1. Check rolling torque. If the rolling torque is under 7 N·m (60 lb in), remove one shim.

  1. Repeat Steps 1 through 3 until the rolling torque is between 7 to 20 N·m (60 to 180 lb in).

Toe-In For Front Wheels:

  1. Raise the front wheels off the ground. Install the wheel lean locking bolt in the tie bar of the wheel lean.

  1. Rotate the wheel so that you can put a mark around the center of the tread on each front tire.

  1. Measure the distance from the mark on one front tire to the mark that is on the other front tire. This should be done at both the front of the tires and at the rear of the front tires. The toe-in is correct if the measurement (K) at the front of the front tires is less than the measurement (L) at the rear of the front tires. The measurement in front of the front tires should be smaller by 6.0 mm (.25 inch).

  1. Adjust the toe-in, as needed. Loosen the nuts (11) in the clamps on the tie rod (12) . Rotate tie rod (12) in the direction that is needed to achieve the correct toe-in for the front wheels. When the toe-in adjustment is correct, orient the bolts that are in the clamps on the tie rod, as shown. Tighten nuts (11) that are in the clamps on tie rod (12) to the specified torque.

Assembly Procedure For Axle Steering Linkage:

  1. Before you perform the assembly procedure for the axle steering linkage, do the toe-in for the front wheels first.

  1. Raise the front wheels off the ground. Install the wheel lean locking bolt in the tie bar of the wheel lean.

  1. Assemble 141-6136 Socket Group into each steering cylinder rod as far as possible. Assemble socket groups into each spindle housing.

  1. Turn the wheel completely to the left. Hold the steering wheel in that position. Loosen locknut (10) on the right cylinder rod.

  1. Turn the right cylinder rod until the block on the left spindle housing is in contact with left stop on the axle. Next, turn the cylinder rod for six additional turns. This will adjust the rod length to 12.7 mm (.50 inch). Tighten nut (10) to the specified torque.

  1. Turn the wheel completely to the right. Hold the steering wheel in that position.

  1. Turn the left cylinder rod until the block on the right spindle housing is in contact with right stop on the axle. Next, turn the cylinder rod for six additional turns. This will adjust the rod length to 12.7 mm (.50 inch). Tighten nut (10) to the specified torque.
