797B (S/N: JSM1-UP)

Introduction

The problem that is identified in the technical information bulletin that follows does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

The manifold in the lubrication distribution valve group that is located on the planetary case was redesigned. A plate was removed from the manifold. The plate had several functions. The plate held the two sleeves in the planetary case. This would ensure that the sleeves were properly sealed. The new design of the manifold may not retain the sleeves in the planetary case. The sleeves may move away from the planetary case. The problem has been reported on machines S/N:JSM185-UP.

Solution

Analyze the VIMS data for the transmission lubrication pressure. If you see a trend in the pressure that indicates a 105 kPa (15 psi) drop in the lubrication pressure, remove the 225-9491 Manifold . Push the 155-5080 Sleeves into the planetary case.

Fabricate two orifice plugs from brass to the dimensions that are listed in Illustration 1 in order to keep the sleeves in the planetary case. Install the two orifice plugs in the 225-9491 Manifold . Install the orifice plugs level with the surface of the manifold.
