Rework Procedure

Image1.1.1

1. If the transmission oil is not up to operating temperature, 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit), the transmission needs to be warmed up using only forward gears for stall. It is critical that reverse gears are not stalled as transmission damage can occur if reverse gears are used for warming/stalling.

2. Perform transmission calibrations, starting with Engagement Calibration and then Fill Calibration. Refer to UENR4226, Testing and Adjusting, "Transmission Engage Calibration" or M0073366, Testing and Adjusting, "Transmission Clutch Pressure Test" for engagement calibration. For fill calibration refer to UENR4226, Testing and Adjusting, "Transmission Fill Calibration" or M0073366, Testing and Adjusting, "Calibrations (AVS ET)".

3. Please follow all safety practices for working on energized machine and please make sure the area is clear of other people, equipment and other hazards as machine movement is possible. Ensure the machine still has transmission oil up to operating temperature, 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit), disengage the park brake. Using the service brakes and throttle, put the truck in FIRST reverse gear stall. Bring throttle up to full. Hold for at least 5 seconds. The truck most likely will creep backward during this test. Monitor the torque converter temperature during this test to prevent overheating. If the truck does not hold or generates slip codes, please shift back to neutral and notify a Dealer Technical Communicator (TC) to submit information to CPI number 478910 through CPI Feedback within the Service Information Management System (SIMSi).

4. Once calibrations and checks are successfully completed, an Engineering Data Transport File must be downloaded so AVSpare has a documented record of the new calibration results. Refer to Images1.2.1, 1.2.2, and 1.2.3 for Engineering Data Transport file download process. Have a Dealer Technical Communicator (TC) submit the Engineering Data Transport File to CPI number 478910 through CPI Feedback within the Service Information Management System (SIMSi).
