Rework Procedure

With the bracket missing, the radio is cantilevered on the 511-6889 Front Panel. The front panel can crack from the weight of the unsupported radio.
When necessary, reference SM M0083845 for instruction showing how to replace the broken panel.

1). Remove 2 screws to gain access to the inside of the overhead panel. Support the bottom of the panel as the screws are removed

Note: Panel will then pivot down, and it will hang in position from two cables.

2). Inspect back of radio for a missing bracket.

3). If bracket is missing, then fabricate bracket per dimensions provided in the following image.

4). If more space is needed behind the radio, the radio can be slid forward. Before moving the radio forward, fasten the new fabricated bracket to the stud on the rear of the radio. Then using the bottom hole in the fabricated bracket, mark the proper hole location to be drilled in the 432-3689 Plate.

5). To slide the radio forward, use a screwdriver to release the tab on the left side and the tab on the right side of the radio mount.

6). After fabricating the bracket, fit up the bracket to the M5x0.8 stud on the back of the radio using a 3B-4503 Lock Washer and a 240-6575 Wingnut.

7). Then, using self tapping screw 7Y-5287, fasten the fabricated bracket to the 432-3689 Plate (metal). Ensure wires are clear of screw and bracket.
