NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "AVSpare Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on AVSpare products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Operate the machine for a few minutes in order to warm the transmission oil.

  1. Park the machine on a level surface. Lower the bucket to the ground and apply slight downward pressure. Engage the parking brake. Stop the engine.

  1. Remove transmission drain plug (2). Install a 1 inch NPT pipe nipple, 100 mm (4 inch) and drain the oil into a suitable container.

  1. Remove the pipe nipple and install the drain plug. Tighten the drain plug to 68 ± 7 N·m (50 ± 5 lb ft).

  1. Change the transmission oil filter element.

    Reference: For the correct procedure, refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Transmission Oil Filter - Replace" for the machine that is being serviced.

  1. Remove the cover (1) and the magnetic screen tube assembly from the housing.

  1. Remove the magnetic tube assembly from the screen.

  1. Wash the tube assembly and the screen in a clean, nonflammable solvent.

  1. Clean the magnets with a cloth, stiff bristle brush, or pressure air.


    NOTICE

    Do not drop or rap the magnets against any hard objects. Replace any damaged magnets.


  1. Clean the cover. Inspect the cover seal. Replace the seal if it is damaged.

  1. Insert the magnets in the screen.

  1. Insert the screen, tube and magnets in the housing.

  1. Install the seal, the cover and the cover bolts.

  1. Remove hose assembly from torque converter screen assembly (3) and drain the oil into a suitable container. Remove screen assembly (3) from the bottom of the torque converter housing.

  1. Wash the screen assembly in a clean, nonflammable solvent. Inspect the screen assembly seal. Replace the seal if it is damaged.

  1. Install the screen assembly in the torque converter housing and connect the hose assembly.

  1. Remove transmission breather (4). Wash the transmission breather in clean, nonflammable solvent. Install the breather.

  1. Remove oil filler cap (5) and fill the transmission with oil.

    Reference: For information on lubricants and refill capacities, refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities" for the machine that is being serviced.

  1. Start and run the engine at low idle. Inspect the machine for leaks.

  1. Apply the service brakes. Use the right brake pedal only.

  1. Disengage the parking brake. Slowly operate the transmission controls in order to circulate the transmission oil.

  1. Move the transmission directional control to the NEUTRAL position. Engage the parking brake.

  1. Maintain the transmission oil level between the "LOW" and "FULL" marks on dipstick (6) .

  1. Stop the engine.
