Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "AVSpare Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on AVSpare products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
The machine must be level and the parking brake engaged. The oil must be warm and the engine stopped.
- Open the crankcase drain valve and allow the oil to drain into a suitable container. Close the crankcase drain valve.

- Remove the used oil filter element and discard the used oil filter element.

- Clean the filter housing base. Make sure that all of the old seal is removed from the filter base.
- Apply a thin film of clean engine oil to the new filter element seal.
- Install the oil filter element by hand. Tighten the filter element until the sealing surface contacts the filter base. Tighten the filter element by an additional 3/4 of a turn.
- Remove engine oil filler cap (1). Fill the engine crankcase with new oil. Clean the filler cap and install the filler cap.

Note: There are rotation index marks on the filter, that are spaced 90 degrees (1/4 turn) apart. Use these rotation marks as a guide when tightening the filter.

- Start the engine and run the engine at low idle for five minutes. Inspect the engine oil filter for leaks. Stop the engine.
- Maintain the oil level between the "ADD" and "FULL" marks on dipstick (2). Add oil, if necessary.
