Changing The Engine Coolant

------ WARNING! ------

AT OPERATING TEMPERATURE, ENGINE COOLANT IS HOT AND UNDER PRESSURE.

STEAM CAN CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY.

CHECK COOLANT LEVEL ONLY WHEN ENGINE IS STOPPED AND RADIATOR IS COOL ENOUGH TO TOUCH WITH YOUR HAND.

REMOVE FILLER CAP SLOWLY TO RELIEVE PRESSURE.

COOLING SYSTEM CONDITIONER CONTAINS ALKALI. AVOID CONTACT WITH SKIN AND EYES TO PREVENT PERSONAL INJURY.

------WARNING!--------

NOTICE

ALL WATER IS CORROSIVE AT ENGINE OPERATING TEMPERATURE. USE EITHER AVSpare COOLING SYSTEM CONDITIONER LIQUID, OR THE COOLANT CONDITIONER ELEMENT TO TREAT EITHER PLAIN WATER OR ETHYLENE GLYCOL ANTIFREEZE SOLUTION. NEVER USE BOTH THE LIQUID COOLING SYSTEM CONDITIONER AND THE COOLANT CONDITIONER ELEMENT AT THE SAME TIME.

DO NOT USE AVSpare COOLING SYSTEM CONDITIONER OR COOLANT CONDITIONER ELEMENTS WITH DOWTHERM 209 FULL-FILL COOLANT.

1. Loosen the radiator cap slowly to release pressure. Remove the radiator cap.
2. Open the radiator drain and allow the coolant to drain.
3. Remove the engine block drain plugs and allow the coolant to drain.
4. Clean the engine drain plugs and reinstall them in the engine block.
5. Fill the cooling system with the proper antifreeze mixture (see the specification on page 3-2) until the mixture is level with the base of the fill pipe.

NOTICE

USE A PRE-CHARGE COOLANT CONDITIONER ELEMENT FOR THE 2000 HOUR SERVICE OR ANYTIME THE COOLANT IS CHANGED. USE A MAINTENANCE ELEMENT FOR THE 250 HOUR SERVICE.

6. Change the coolant conditioner element (see page 3-27).
7. With the radiator cap off, start the engine. Once the coolant level has stabilized, add coolant if necessary.
8. Stop the engine.
9. Check the radiator cap seal and replace if damaged. Install the radiator cap.
