The following design types are supported in the AccuGrade System:

SV Design (.svd) - An SVD file is a fast loading design surface. An SVD file allows a machine to operate across very large design surfaces. An SVD file can only be generated by SiteVision Office software.

Road (.dc) - A road file describes a road surface using horizontal and vertical alignments. A series of templates or standard cross-sections are then applied to these alignments to define the road design surface.

Grid (.dtx) - A grid file is a regular rectangular grid of points. A height is assigned to each point in the grid.

Triangular Irregular Network (TIN) (.ttm) - A TIN file describes a design surface formed by a mesh of triangles. A TIN is a better way of modelling the design surface than a grid. A TIN more accurately represents sharp edges, and usually models the same design with fewer points.

Sloping Surface (.tsd) - A sloping surface design has a name and defines two sloping surfaces. This design is similar to working with a dual-slope laser plane, but for a sloping surface design you enter two slopes at once. A sloping surface is frequently used to build an access ramp. To create a sloping surface in the field, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Sloping Surface Design".

Level Surface (.tsd) - A level surface design defines a flat surface that is to be constructed. You work with a level surface in a way that is similar to working with a laser level. This is very useful when cutting benches and building pads. In order to create a level surface in the field, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Level Surface Design".

3D Lines Design (.svl) - The SiteVision Office version 5.5 or later software supports 3D Lines design files. A 3D line is made up of one or more joined, three-dimensional straight line segments. A 3D Lines design specifies one or more 3D lines. 3D Lines designs are stored on a data card as .svl files, along with optional background linework.

Note: A three-dimensional straight line segment is a straight line that has its end points specified by northing, easting, and elevation values.

A 3D Lines design has the following features:

One or more 3D lines are available for selection in a 3D Lines design.

  • The width of the design surface defined by a selected 3D line can be varied

  • The length of a selected 3D line, and hence the design surface defined by it, can be extended

The cross slope of the design surface defined by a 3D line is always level.

  • The direction and grade of the design surface defined by a 3D line can change between segments.
