2.1. Working with the Setup Menu


This section discusses the "Setup Menu" dialogs. Use these dialogs in order to access the AccuGrade System setup items.

Note: The contents of the "Setup Menu" dialog are site configurable. Depending on the Operator Configuration settings of your system and machine settings, the number of items in the "Setup Menu" may vary.

Table 1 lists the default menu items.

Menu Item     Description    
Select Design     Allows the operator to select the design file for the work site.    
GPS Accuracy     Allows the operator to choose one of the following accuracy modes for the GPS guidance:     Fine
Blade Wear     Blade wear information is entered into the AccuGrade System so that the AccuGrade GPS can adjust for the wear of the cutting edge. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Blade Wear - Set" for addition information.    
Vertical Setup     Allows the operator to change the method of guidance. The following list includes some of the methods:     3D, 1 Point Center
3D, 1 Point Focus
3D, 2 Point Tips    
Calibrate Sensors     Allows the operator calibrate the angle sensors that are install in the AccurGrade System.    
Map Recording (1).     The main purpose of map recording is to display, on the Plan View, position and attribute information. Terrain logging files (.st) are also recorded when using certain map recording types. Terrain logging files are used in the AccuGrade Office Software. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Map Recording - Set" for additional information.    
Avoidance Zone (1)     The Avoidance Zone dialog allows you to configure the distance from an avoidance zone when you need to be warned. This varies for different applications. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Avoidance Zone - Set".    
Text Items (1)     Text Items allows you to customize the text items on the Display in order to suit your requirements. Refer to for additional information.    
Display Direction (1)     The Display Direction dialog allows the user to configure the cross section view in a scraper system so that the display corresponds to a view out of the rear window of a scraper cab.    
Plan View (1)     You can set the Plan View to rotate so that the machine is always heading up the Display, or the Plan View is always drawn north-up. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Plan View - Set"for additional information.    
Beeper (1)     The beeper can be configured in order to provide an audible signal when various events occur. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Beeper - Set" for additional information.
Save Settings (1)     Allows the operator to save the machine settings and the display settings to the Data Card.    
Restore Settings     Use the Restore Settings dialog in order to restore previously saved Display settings or machine settings.    
GPS Receiver Configuration (1)     Allows the operator to load configuration files for the GPS Receiver from the Data Card.    
Diagnostics     The software for the AccuGrade System displays diagnostic information about the devices the software detects and also the GPS Receiver. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Diagnostics - View" for additional information.    
Select Radio Frequency     The Select Radio Frequency dialog allows the user to select the frequency band of "CRxxx" multiband radios.

To access the "Setup Menu" dialog complete the following steps:

  1. Press the "Menu" key.

    A screen that is similar to Illustration 1 will open.

Note: Changes made to the "Setup Menu" options take effect as soon as you exit the "Setup Menu" dialog.

Working with the Setup Menu

Press the Down Arrow or the Up Arrow in order to scroll through the available options. Press the "OK" key in order to select the appropriate item.

Within any of the "Setup Menu – Configuration" options, the following steps apply:

  1. Press the "OK" key in order to save any setup changes.

  1. Press the Escape Key in order to close the dialog without changing any setup options. A warning appears.

  1. Press the "OK" key in order to confirm that you want to abandon your changes.

  1. Press the "Escape" Key in order to return to the dialog.

After changing the required options, you can change any of the other items listed in the "Setup Menu – Configuration" dialog before you exit.

When all of your changes are made to the items in the "Setup Menu – Configuration" dialog, press the "Escape" Key in order to exit. The changes take effect immediately.
