------ WARNING! ------

To prevent personal injury, be sure all personnel are clear of the machine. Sound the horn for several seconds before starting the engine.


------ WARNING! ------

Do not use ether. This machine is equipped with glow plugs. Using ether can create explosions or fires that can cause personal injury or death. Read and follow the engine starting procedure in the Operation and Maintenance Manual.



NOTICE

Do not crank the engine for more than 30 seconds. Allow the starter to cool for two minutes before cranking again.

The key must be in run position with the engine running to maintain electrical and hydraulic functions and prevent machine damage.

If the engine does not start, return the key to OFF before returning it to START.

    The vandalism guard is in the CLOSED position.

  1. Open the vandalism guard.

  2. Move propel control lever (4) to the NEUTRAL position.

  3. Push parking brake knob (1) downward in order to engage the parking brake.

  4. Move throttle control (3) downward to the LOW position.

  5. Turn key (2) to the ON position. The indicator for the engine preheater will illuminate. Leave the key in the ON position until the indicator turns OFF.

    Note: Always use the engine preheater before starting the engine.

  6. Before the engine is started, check for the presence of bystanders or maintenance personnel. Ensure that all personnel are clear of the machine. Briefly sound the forward horn before you start the engine.

  7. Crank the engine by turning key (2) to the START position. When the engine starts, release the key.

    Note: If the engine does not start, return key (2) to the OFF position before you try to start the engine again.
